How we started
Il Portale grew out of a family — not a concept. Italian cooking was simply how this family fed people, and it still is.

Pasta made the way it should be. Meatballs that regulars hold other restaurants accountable to. The Italian side of this kitchen is serious, and it has been from the start.
Scratch-made, every time
The pesto is heavy with fresh basil — the kind that reminds you what homemade actually means. The marinara has a reputation that stretches across Santa Clara County, and it earned that quietly.
The walls have a story too
The murals inside have been part of the dining room for years, same as everything else here. The space hasn't changed much, and that's the whole point.
The regulars who never really left
